Finding sheepskins which have the quality required for Lambswool Overugs is no easy task. We search the world for the best and then we select the finest from these for our Golden Fleece Sheepskins

Selected for their dense but soft wool character each sheepskin goes through up to forty processes during its journey through the tannery. In certain countries ( like the USA ) this type of sheepskin is known as Mouton or Mouton Royale

SIZE IS IMPORTANT !
We are cutting large panels for our rugs and have to search the world for particular breeds which give size without loss of wool quality

GOLDEN FLEECE ARE POLISHED OR IRONED WOOL SKINS
In its natural state the wool fibre when viewed under a microscope would resemble a fir tree.
Ironing is a process which involves passing the tanned sheepskin under a high speed revolving heated drum.
The highly polished surface of the drum has carding panels ( like metal combs ) inset at various points.
The combination of heat, pressure and combing strips the barbs off the fibre and making it soft to touch and giving the fibre lustre

GOLDEN FLEECE CARE ADVICE
A regular shake and an occasional vacuum to remove grit, dust and debris will help keep your rugs in good order. A gentle natural orange solvent is ideal for spot cleaning and for more intensive cleaning we recommend dry cleaning.
